Afghan issue is better to be solved together with Russia – Pentagon’s chief

Almaty. October 4. Silkroadnews – The US defense secretary James Mattis said the problem of Afghanistan would be better solved in cooperation with Russia, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
He shared his view at the hearings on situation in Afghanistan at the senate committee on military affairs.
Russia undertakes to become an important player in the affairs of South Asia, Mattis said adding that quite often Russia does not act in its own interests.
Secretary Tillerson is in talks with his Moscow counterpart on this issue, Russian media quoted minister saying. He also mentioned, sometimes Russia acts contrary to the logic and prefers putting the U.S. on the spot rather than acting in its own interests.
Mattis explained that, in his opinion, "Russia acts contrary to logic."
