Afghan officials to hold talks in Islamabad

Beijing. May 4. Silkroadnews - In the near future a delegation of the Afghan officials that may include President Ashraf Ghani and Prime Minister Abdullah Abdullah will visit Islamabad, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports citing Afghanistan’s Consul General to Pakistan Moeen Marastial.
Speaking at a press conference, the Afghan diplomat said the visit of the high-ranking delegation is scheduled for the next few days. He also expressed the hope that the forthcoming bilateral talks will contribute to strengthening the relations between the two states.
It should be noted, the tension in Afghan-Pakistani relations has grown over the past few months, as shown by cross-border armed clashes with victims from each side. Similar incidents, in particular, have also been registered in the eastern Afghan provinces of Khost and Paktia.
Kabul also expects to get Pakistan’s assistance in promoting dialogue with the Taliban, which success is considered as one of the essential components to restore peace and stability within the country.
The Consul General expressed the hope for two states’ officials to agree on joining efforts in the fight against common enemies not to allow anyone to harm the Afghan-Pakistani relations.
