Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have strengthed the coordination of border control

Almaty. July 31. Silkroadnews - Advisor to the President of Afghanistan on national security Hanif Atmar held talks in Tashkent with a delegation of Uzbekistan on security of the common border, reports the News Agency of Uzbekistan (UzTAG).
During a three-day visit of H. Atmar, the sides reached an agreement on enhancing cooperation in the defense and protection of the state border. In addition the sides in details discussed an activation of the Taliban and militants of the terrorist organization "Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan" (IMU) in northern Afghanistan.
On Tuesday it became known that the militants of the radical movement "Taliban" took control of the 80 settlements in the province of Kunduz in northeastern Afghanistan.
According to an independent non-profit organization "Afghanistan Analysts Network", Uzbek border with Afghanistan, with the length of 137 km, is the most secure portion of the post-Soviet borders with this state. In addition to the armed and well-equipped checkpoints, Uzbek border guards have a Coast Guard cutter on its side of the Amu Darya.
