Afghanistan plans to move toward e-payment of taxes

Almaty. June 27. Silkroadnews – Afghanistan will launch tax payment electronic system, Afghan news agency (AfTAG) reports.

According to Afghanistan’s Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi, new e-Pay system will make the tax payment procedure simpler and more transparent. For the first time the electronic payment system was launched in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif in 2015.

In June 2016 the project covered the major administrative centers and border trade ports: Andkhoy, Herat, Islam Qala, Torghundi, Nangarhar, Torkham, Kandahar, Khost, Kunduz and Nimroz. Next stage the system will start operating throughout the country.

This is the joint project implemented by the Afghanistan’s Central Bank, Customs Department of Afghanistan and U.S. Agency for International Development in the course of Afghanistan’s preparation on accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
