Afghanistan's President and Prime Minister agreed on separation of powers

Almaty. August 29. Silkroadnews – On Monday the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Prime Minister Abdullah Abdullah held a regular meeting on governance issues, AfTAG reports.

Following the discussion, the sides reached agreement on the electoral reforms, distribution of electronic ID cards, creating a committee to introduce amendments to the constitution, as well as the appointment of members of the committee to monitor the implementation of the national unity government political agreement.

Earlier it was reported that in the first half of August Prime Minister criticized the policies of President A. Ghani having expressed concern about the need for electoral reform, implementation of the national unity government agreement and a number of other reforms of national importance.

Prime Minister Abdullah Abdullah expressed an opinion that A. Ghani pays insufficient attention to these problems. The parties then entered into a dialogue to resolve disagreements. The cooperation of the country's leaders is expected to result in measures allowing to transform the government from its current transitional status into more stable structure.
