Agricultural supplies trading on Alibaba platforms reached 2.57 billion yuan
Beijing. Jul 13. Silkroadnews - The latest statistics shows, the total sales of agricultural products on the platforms of the Chinese electronic commerce giant Alibaba reached 2.57 billion yuan ($386 million) in 2017, People’s Daily reports.
Currently, 700 counties throughout China use the services of Alibaba Taobao, and each of them bought an average 3.5 million yuan of agricultural products over a year.
In addition to chemical fertilizers and pesticides, Chinese farmers used the online platforms to purchase agricultural equipment and even drones.
Cheng Peng, a farmer from Jiangxi Province in eastern China, an unmanned aerial vehicle can spray fertilizers on an area of up to 133 hectares within 20 hours, which is much more efficient compared to work by people.
In 2017, more than 1.5 billion parcels were delivered to more than 30,000 service stations of Taobao in rural China. In the central province of Henan, China, more than 80 parcels were delivered to each of the 500 delivery points daily.
Statistics show, about 300 large household appliances were sold in the rural province of Shandong.
According to the Alibaba Research Institute, AliResearch, 832 poor counties in China now sell products through e-commerce platforms Alibaba. In addition, Taobao’s rural business unit developed 160 agricultural brands and launched 486 specialized products to help people to escape poverty.
