AIIB to promote “green” infrastructure and support the countries to achieve environmental objectives
Almaty. January 17. Silkroadnews – The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) announced the priority strategic objectives for this year, the newspaper “People’s Daily” writes.
“This year the development bank will focus its work on three major – eco-efficient infrastructure, interconnection of states and attraction of private capital”, the publication says.
To facilitate the eco-efficient infrastructure AIIB plans to promote “green” infrastructure and support the countries in achieving the environmental and development goals.
The major focus in raising the interconnection between the states will be paid to cross-border infrastructure, including roads and railways, ports, energy and telecommunications facilities in Asia and beyond.
Also, together with other development banks, governments and private investors, the AIIB intends to develop innovative solutions that will help strengthening private capital.
According to the president of the bank Jin Liqun, AIIB’s higher mission is to promote economic and social development in Asia through the investment in projects that contribute to connect people, services and markets.
After the beginning of work on January 16, 2016, the AIIB united 57 founding members and approved $1.73 billion loans to support nine infrastructure projects in seven countries.
