Aktau. May 5. Silkroadnews – Residents of Caspian city of Aktau called for rain in a ceremony known as “Tasattyk”. “Tasattyk” is a centuries old sacrifice ceremony that was performed by ancient Kazakhs, as KazTAG reports. When the season is unusually dry, the sheep is sacrificed, while praying for rains to come. There was no rain neither this March nor this April.
“We sacrificed a sheep in hope for the rains to come, just as our ancestors did”, local resident Abubakir Ospanov explained.
Bazarbay Nurbolat, the Imam from the District Mosque, was leading the prayer.
