Almaty anti-corruption agency senior officers misled the mass-media on detention of the head of the country’s Journalists Union Seitkazy Matayev

Almaty. February 23. Silkroadnews - On February 22, 9:23 p.m., I received the official notification of the arrest of my father Matayev Seitkazy. Till that moment my father’s colleagues, our family and relatives have been hold in suspense.
When studying the detention report together with the lawyers we have found out that in fact my father got arrested at 9.30 a.m. This was evidenced by the report of detention. However, during the briefing at 12.00 p.m. in Almaty anticorruption agency building the head of Almaty office of anti-corruption agency Shattyk Uteev said: “No one is detained. The investigations are on-going.” Also, according to zakon.kz, he said: “Seitkazy and Asset Matayevs are not detained, officially they are free so far”. Thus, he misled the journalists and community being aware of the decision issued on my father’s arrest at 9:30 a.m. on February 22, 2016.    
The head of the investigation and operational group, head of investigation department of the anti-corruption agency of Almaty Taubaldy Saken in the absence of defense lawyer tried to carry out a number of investigative actions, yet got a refusal on signing the documents presented and detained my father Matayev Seitkazy Beysengazyevich. Meantime, the lawyers, as I said earlier, attended the hearing on the appeal of the actions by the National Bureau of Anti-Corruption in the Almaty district court #2 in Astana.  Both Taubaldy Saken and his senior heads have been informed on this in advance, yet they intentionally have violated our right to defense.    
After the urgent demands on February 22, 2016, the lawyers of the Almaty City Bar Association Andrei Petrov and Madina Bakiyeva managed to strive for confidential conversation with my father Matayev S.B. at 9:30 p.m. in the building of anti-corruption agency of Almaty, after which the detainee Matayev S.B. was escorted to the detention center of the department of internal affairs of Almaty.
Decision on the arrest of property of my father as an individual person has been appealed in the manner prescribed by the laws in court №2 of the Medeu district of Almaty.
