Almaty is to bid for hosting Winter-2022 Olympics - IOC

Almaty. March 15. Silkroadnews – Almaty is among 5 cities to bid for hosting 2022 Winter Olympic Games, as ITAR-TASS reports.

According to the International Olympic Committee, 5 cities succeeded in filling the correct set of documents within the set deadline. Those cities are Almaty (Kazakhstan, Krakow (Poland), Oslo (Norway) and Beijing (China).

Relevant authorities fr om the bidding cities presented their drafts of construction plans for the first stage of preparation for the Games. These plans are now to be reviewed by the special Working Group of the IOC. The final list of candidates will then be approved by the executive committee during the July 7-9 Executive Committee Session.

Cities are to submit application documents and financial guarantees before 7th of January 2015. The inspection visits are to take place between February and March with their reviews published between May and June.
The Olympic host for Winter-2022 is to be chosen on the 31st of July 2015 in Kuala-Lumpur (Malaysia), wh ere the IOC session is scheduled to be held.
