Almost 70% of medicines sold in Kazakhstan are counterfeit products

Almaty. June 17. Silkroadnews – Nearly 70% of medicines sold in the market of Kazakhstan are counterfeit products, says the chairman of the Board of JSC “National Scientific Medical Center” Abay Baygenzhin, KazTAG writes.

“Almost 70% of medicines in the market of the Republic of Kazakhstan are unlicensed, a grey import, counterfeit products as we call them. The Committee of Health Care (and Social Development – Silkroadnews) has worked out the list,” A. Baygenzhin said on Friday.

He is also concerned people can easily buy any antibiotic now.

“The access to antibiotics will be banned now. Antibiotic is a dangerous thing,” he added.

According to A. Baygenzhin, “now only those drugs that are officially standardized in terms of the European Union, the so-called GNP, will be used”.

“And purchases of the drugs will be carried out from the certified factories only. The whole process will become tight, the drug will be sold strictly on prescription issued, if needed. As a whole this all will be consolidated in medical institutions only,” A. Baygenzhin said.
