Ambassador of Afghanistan believes Moscow should apologize for brining Soviet troops
Beijing. Jul 19. Silkroadnews - The Russian government should apologize to the Afghan people for bringing the Soviet troops into the country, said ambassador of Afghanistan to Russia Abdul Qayyum Kochai, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
Kochai expressed Afghanistan’s interest in developing relations with Russia, yet, pointed out it is necessary to avoid repeating past mistakes.
In particular, the ambassador severely criticized the policy of the People’s Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA).
According to him, having recognizing the government of Amin and Taraki, the USSR had made its first mistake. This government was not nothing but a puppet regime. The second mistake was bringing the Soviet troops, which resulted in death of more than 2 million Afghans and a large number of Soviet soldiers.
The ambassador also noted, the USSR is to be charges a fault for not only the human losses incurred by the country during the Afghan war of 1979-1989, but also for the complete destruction of the national infrastructure, the Russian mass media inform.
He said Moscow should tender some apology to the Afghan people, which will serve to truly deepen and strengthen relations between the countries.
