American Air Base in Bishkek officially announce its closing

Bishkek. June 3. Silkroadnews – The official closing ceremony of the US air base is to take place at Manas International Airport today, on the 3rd of June.
“The official closing ceremony is to take place on the 3rd of June. Symbolic keys to the air base are to be passed to Kyrgyz government during this ceremony”, John Millard, the commander of Manas Transit Centre stated.
There are 300 military men remaining at the base in the moment. They provide security for the territory of the air base.
“US government closely cooperated with Kyrgyz government to support the Operation “Enduring Freedom” for 12.5 years. Manas Transit Centre as created with 4 main missions in mind. These are air refuelling, cargo transfer, personnel transfer and security provision. All of these missions ended on the 28th of February”, Mister Millard announced.
He says over 5 mln of personnel were transferred through Manas Transit Centre in these years. 43 000 flights were made to transfer cargo. The remaining Manas Transit Centre personnel is to leve on the 10th of June 2014.
