Almaty. February 26. Silkroadnews - Annually illegal labor migrants take out from Kazakhstan up to $7 billion, Vice-Minister for Healthcare and Social Development Birjan Nurymbetov voiced, KazTAG reports.
“According to the special report by the Human Rights Commission under the President of Kazakhstan, for the recent decades the number of unregulated migrants ranged from 300 to 750 thousand people per year. As a result of their activities, the expert data shows, annually $5.7 billion in cash and more than $1 billion through the banks and other payment systems outflow from Kazakhstan,” - said B. Nurymbetov on Friday during a round table discussion on migration issues in Central Asia.
“This, of course, means there are no taxes and other deductions to cover the social risks,” - he added.
Thus, B. Nurymbetov emphasized, the illegal labor migration in Kazakhstan still “exists”. ... “It’s unregulated inflow in some or other sector, as a rule, creates the economic and social problems for both our country and the workers themselves,” - he said.
Vice-Minister noted that the illegal migrants are mainly involved in such activities as trade, construction, agriculture and also reminded in 2015 the Kazakhstani law enforcement agencies issued permits for 141 thousand foreign workers from the CIS countries working in the households.
Vice-Minister of Kazakhstan mentioned the quota system Kazakhstan uses for foreign labor.
“Over the past three years the employers of the country used to attract about 30 thousand of foreign experts under the quota per year. This represents 0.3% of the economically active population of the country. Foreign workers from more than 100 countries arrive in Kazakhstan to find employment. The major countries of origin for them are China, Turkey, India,” - he concluded.
