Around 100 thousand tourists visit Afghanistan each year

Almaty. September 30. Silkroadnews – Around 100 thousand tourists visit Afghanistan each year, Afghan News Agency (AfTAG) reports.

«On the occasion of the World Tourism Day the Ministry of Culture and Information Technologies of Afghanistan stated the tourism brings to the country 1 billion afghani ($14.5 million) a year», the agency wrote on Friday.

It is noted that, despite 5% decline in number of tourists coming to the country this year, around 100 000 people visit Afghanistan each year as tourists.

«Mainly they visited around 200 tourist sites throughout twelve Afghan provinces», the ministry's press-secretary Harun Hakimi said.

With this the representatives of the Aga Khan Trust stated there are also over a hundred historical sites restored in the country, in particular, the Gardens of Babur.
