Artificial intelligence system can give a diagnosis in 0.05 seconds in China
Almaty. August 21. Silkroadnews – China has developed an artificial intelligence system that can give a clinical diagnosis in 0.05 seconds, Chinese newspaper “People’s Daily” reported.
To analyze the data of 100 medical records and issue a medical report the artificial intelligence system takes only 4.8 seconds, or 0.05 seconds for one medical case history. The diagnoses made by the AI “doctor” 98% matches the medical conclusions made by human doctors, the report said.
It is noted that the diagnostic system is based on big data technologies.
The diagnostic system, dubbed “superman”, is based on the technologies of big data, supercomputing and artificial intelligence. The system analyzes the symptoms of the patient and automatically makes a medical report, then prescribes the optimal treatment. All the human doctor need to do is to verify the diagnosis given by the machine, the publication explains.
According to one of the experts responsible for the system development, deputy director of the National Supercomputing Center in Changsha, Peng Shaoliang, the system has stored tens of millions of cases and built up diagnostic models of over 30 diseases, including tuberculosis and depression which has a high misdiagnosis rate. All cloud computing is performed in the Tianhe supercomputer system. Results of tests carried out in large hospitals showed, the accuracy of the diagnoses made by the system is 20% higher compared to the traditional diagnosis.
Kan Xixiong, director of the clinical laboratory diagnostics department at Capital Medical University, said the artificial intelligence doctor will serve as an assistant to the human doctor rather than replace them, allowing to contribute to the joint progress of man and machines. It is reported that the new diagnostic system will be especially useful for lower-level medical institutions, primarily in relatively poor regions.
