Astana and Tashkent to launch a daily flight connection

Almaty. February 24. Silkroadnews – Expansion of cooperation in transit potential use and transportation was on the agenda for the meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation between the officials of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan held in Tashkent, UzTAG writes.

“Uzbekistan is interested in the transit potential of Aktau port, it will contribute to bring our products to the European and Mediterranean markets”, the first deputy prime minister of Uzbekistan Achilbay Ramatov said.

The sides also discussed the practice of sharing permissions to carry out motor freight transportation, including ones from the third countries, in mutually agreed amount.

The Kazakhstani side suggested to begin daily flights between Tashkent and Astana.

“Proposing daily flights between the two capitals will allow boosting our economic ties and contributing to growth of business contacts”, the first Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin has noted.

At present two states’ air carriers operate between Tashkent and Astana twice a week.

The participants of the meeting have agreed to open a regular bus service; start rail passenger service between Tashkent and Almaty by Nauryz holidays (March 21). It is also expected to put into operation the Kazakhstani section of highway M-39 connecting Tashkent and Samarkand.
