Banks of Thailand banned from operations with crypto-currencies
Beijing. February 13. Silkroadnews - The Bank of Thailand has prohibited the financial institutions of the kingdom to conduct any operations with crypto-currencies, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) cites TASS agency’s report.
Banks are prohibited from investing or trading in cryptocurrency, offering cryptocurrency exchanges and creating platforms for cryptocurrency trading, the central bank’s circular said.
Thai banks are also banned from allowing their customers to use credit cards to buy cryptocurrency, and from recommending their clients use crypto currency as an investment tool.
Restrictions are explained by the Bank of Thailand’s concerns that crypto-currencies can be used in the shadow economy for money laundering or terrorism supporting.
