According to the representative of the Republic of Korea, all the actions by the South Korean government to deploy strategic U.S. missile systems in the region are not aimed at any third country.
To remind, in June 2016 South Korea decided to deploy the U.S. anti-ballistic missile defense system THAAD in its territory. The system is designed to shoot down the ballistic missiles in their terminal phase. The THAAD missile defense system was developed to protect the troops of the United States and its allies, as well as cities and important facilities, from both short-range ballistic missiles and strategic warheads.
