Beijing approved the program of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the SCO member-states for 2016
Almaty. February 5. Silkroadnews – A regular meeting of the Council of National Coordinators (CNC) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) chaired by the Uzbek side was hold on February 2-5, 2016, UzTAG informs.
“During the meeting the delegations of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan considered issues of preparation for the statutory activities of the SCO bodies planned within the framework of the presidency of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the organization,” – the statement said on Friday.
The sides exchanged their views on the draft documents to be signed within the upcoming Tashkent meeting of the Heads of States and Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Council meeting of security councils and other events.
The participants discussed the issues related to the practical implementation of the Ufa Summit’s decisions, including the issues of the SCO expansion – in particular the program of cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the SCO member states for 2016 has been approved.
Also the national coordinators discussed other issues related to the current activities of the organization.
The CNC meeting has also been attended by the Secretary General of the SCO Rashid Alimov and head of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure Eugene Sysoyev.
To remind starting from January 2016 the post of the Secretary General of the SCO is hold by the representative of Tajikistan Rashid Alimov, and Eugene Sysoyev was appointed to the position of the head of the Executive Committee of the Regional Antiterrorist Structure (RATS) of the SCO, located in Tashkent. Since 2016 Uzbekistan held the position of the chairmanship in the SCO.
SCO is a regional international organization founded in 2001. It consists of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Belarus, Mongolia, India, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan have the observer status. On July 10, 2015, the accession process for India and Pakistan to join the SCO organization was launched.
