Beijing has opened 7th Ring Road
Beijing. June 22. Silkroadnews - The Capital Region Ring Expressway, a 1,000-kilometer ring road linking Beijing and nearby cities was expected to open to vehicles soon to ease traffic congestion and improve regional economic growth in the area, Xinhua reports.
The new G95 expressway was named the “Seventh Ring Road” of Beijing, although only 38 km of the road passes through Beijing, another 38 km - through Tianjin, and the remaining 924 km passes through Hebei province.
The site of the new high-speed highway in Beijing is aimed at reducing the routes of trucks and other large vehicles from the Sixth Ring Road to the seventh, according to Jing Yanhui, deputy general manager of Beijing Capital Ring Expressway Co.
It is expected that the traffic flow along the new ring road in the Beijing area will reach 10,000 vehicles per day.
According to the research by Beijing University of Technology's Metropolitan Transportation College, about 3,200 trucks passed through Beijing on the Sixth Ring Road every day during the first week of April, which is 32% of the trucks entering the capital of China.
