Beijing objects to U.S. sanctions on trade with the DPRK
Almaty. November 24. Silkroadnews - Beijing objects to sanctions the United States imposed on trade with the DPRK, “People’s Daily” reported.
“Beijing reaffirmed its opposition to “long-arm jurisdiction” after Washington imposed sanctions on Tuesday against three Chinese companies and a Chinese individual for engaging in trade with Pyongyang,” the report said.
“China has always strictly followed and implemented all United Nations Security Council resolutions, and our efforts are obvious to all,” the agency quoted Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang saying on Wednesday.
In general, one person, 13 companies and 20 vessels from different countries were sanctioned by the US Treasury Department. They are accused of participating in trade with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea for hundreds of millions of dollars.
According to Lu, China opposes any country imposing unilateral sanctions on position of strength and in accordance with its local laws and regulations.
The U.S. officials announced sanctions a day after U.S. President Donald Trump returned the DPRK to the list of sponsors of terrorism.
