Belarus to place bonds on the financial market of China

Almaty. April 18. Silkroadnews – Belarus is interested to place the bonds at the Chinese financial market, Russian media wrote.

“We are interested in placing Belarusian bonds in your financial market. The appropriate instructions are necessary to undergo the procedures at the People’s Bank of China”, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said meeting with Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

He also noted that Belarus is interested in attracting the Chinese companies’ direct investments into the banking sector.

“There are preliminary agreements reached on China’s CITIC Bank to enter the Belarusian market. Now we need permission from the authorized agencies of China”, the president said.

Earlier, the Belarusian authorities voiced the plans to place $800 million in seven-year Eurobonds to mature in 2017. Currently, there is only one issue of the seven-year Belarusian Eurobonds to the amount of $800 million in circulation placed in 2011 (coupon rate – 8.95% per annum). In summer of 2015 Belarus paid on the last coupon and met its obligations on $1 billion Eurobond issue placed in 2010.
