Border guards of Tajikistan seized about half a ton of drugs for a quarter of year

Beijing. May 5. Silkroadnews - Over the first quarter of the year Tajikistan’s border guards has seized about half a ton of drugs, the Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports on Saturday.
In January-March of this year the border troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan, working in cooperation with the state’s security forces, have carried out sixteen special operations, the head of the press center of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan Mukhammad Ulugkhodzhaev said citing the Q1 2018 report presented by the border service of the State Committee for National Security.
Within the period specified the border guards and security agencies have seized about 485.8 kg of drugs, including nearly 45.9 kg of heroin, 131 kg of opium, 236 kg of hashish, 72.9 kg of cannabis, 125.8 kg precursors.
As a result of seizures 5 firearms have been confiscated, 3 smugglers were killed and 10 people were detained.
