British Petroleum has resumed production of gas from the field Rhum, 50% of which belong to Iran
Almaty. October 21. Silkroadnews - British Petroleum (BP) has resumed production of natural gas on a large field Rhum, 50% of which is owned by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), informs the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
The representative of the British oil and gas company informed that natural gas has begun to flow into the internal distribution system platform in this field, which is located on the high seas 390 kilometers north-east coast of Scotland. He added that to ensure the injection of fuel mined in the UK gas network in full you will need at least two to three days.
Resumption of production at the deposit Rhum became possible after in October 2013 the Department for Energy and Climate Change of the United Kingdom has given its consent to re-operation on the background of a significant warming of relations between Iran and the West.
This deposit, with reserves estimated at 23 billion cubic meters of natural gas, was found in 1977. Subsequently NIOC purchased 50% ownership of the Rhum. To develop and field commissioning has been spent around 350 million pounds. The first gas from the field began to arrive in the UK gas distribution system in December 2005, but in November 2010, were suspended all works on Rhum due to the imposition of international sanctions against Tehran.
