By 2018 China will form nuclear emergency teams for rescue

Almaty. May 25. Silkroadnews – China forms a 320-professional nuclear emergency rescue team to respond to nuclear accidents, “People’s Daily” writes.

“Since its creation by the end of 2018, the team will mainly carry out the first response duties at major nuclear accidents in the country and take part in the international rescue operations in this area,” the publication says.

The team will be composed of six groups, including the group on the command, coordination and technical support, emergency group, engineering group, group of surveillance and radiation protection, decontamination group and medical aid group.

There will also be three training bases created to simulate the accidents, train the operational skills and teach the theoretical basis.

The announcement on the team formation was made at the third plenary conference of the National Nuclear Emergency Coordination Commission held in Beijing on Tuesday.

The conference adopted the 13th five-year program of work on the nuclear emergencies. The program provides for the formation of the state system of emergency response to nuclear accidents, activation exercises, training, sharing the due knowledge to raise the country’s complex ability to deal with the nuclear emergencies.
