By 2020 number of electric vehicles in Beijing to increase 10 times

Almaty. August 3. Silkroadnews – The number of electric vehicles is expected to number 10 thousand in Beijing by 2020, Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.
“The number of electric buses in Beijing will increase from the current 1,000 to 10,000 by 2020 in an effort to improve the environment, said Beijing Public Transport Group”, the publication reads.
According to Zhong Qianghua, deputy general director of the group, the share of electric buses in the number of the city public transport will increase from the current 10% to 60% in three years. The deputy general director also added, electric buses will create lower harmful emissions and less noise, and each electric bus can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 45 tonnes per year.
Recently, two bus routes in the Yanqing district of Beijing started using 50 new electric buses, the publication says. It takes about 20 minutes to charge the bus; a single charge is said to power a bus for 80 km. These two routes can transport 3.45 million people annually, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 1600 tonnes.
It is reported that currently the Beijing Public Transport Group serves about 1020 bus routes. By 2020, the group will be able to transport about 3.046 billion people a year.
