By 2020 Uzbekistan will implement $114-million-cost projects for leather and foot-wear industry development

Almaty. May 18. Silkroadnews – “Uzbekcharmpoyabzali” association along with the regional khokimiyats designed the regional development program for leather and footwear industry to be implemented till 2020 and include 82 projects on building the modern production, modernization and expansion of existing businesses, Uzbek telegraph agency (UzTAG) reports.

“Out of 82 projects 48 are aimed to create the new enterprises and 34 are planned for the existing enterprises to be upgraded. The total investments into the sector for the period specified are expected to exceed $114 million,” representatives of “Uzbekcharmpoyabzali” note.

According to projections, the new program shall result in production volume growth to $476.5 million by 2020, which is 2.8 times higher compared to 2015. The export of manufactured products is expected to grow up to $301.2 million accompanied with 3240 jobs created.

The agency writes, today “Uzbekcharmpoyabzali” unites around 80 industrial enterprises specializing in the processing of rawhides, production of fully processed leather, footwear and leather haberdashery articles, as well as various kinds of ceramic tiles.
