By 2030 Kazakhstan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15%

Almaty. June 12. Silkroadnews – By 2030 Kazakhstan will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15%, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev said, KazTAG writes.
“To keep global average temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius Kazakhstan will make its contribution to limit and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the form of an unconditional target of 15% and a notional target of 25% by 2030 to the base year 1990 level”, agency quoted K. Bozumbayev speaking at the ministerial conference “Ensuring sustainable energy development” on Sunday.
According to him, Kazakhstan sets a goal to reduce the energy output ratio of the gross domestic product by 25% by 2020 and by 50% by 2050.
“By modernizing the economy we will actively involve alternative renewable energy sources in the country’s energy balance, which will account for 3% by 2020 and for 50% by 2050”, the minister said.
“By 2030 we plan bringing to the European level emissions of sulfur oxide, nitrogen oxide and particulate emissions”, K. Bozumbayev noted.
To remind, last year Kazakhstan committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions having ratified the Paris Climate Agreement.
