Central Asian Foreign Ministers to create council for “Central Asian nations – Afghanistan”
Almaty. December 12. Silkroadnews - At the meeting held in Ashgabat Foreign Ministers of Central Asia and Afghanistan supported the initiative to create a dialogue format of “Central Asia nations – Afghanistan” (C5+1), the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports with reference to press service of Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry.
Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov took part in the meeting of the foreign ministers of Central Asia and Afghanistan organized in Ashgabat on the initiative of the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia (UNRCCA) and with the support of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
A.Kamilov reported on the results of the official visit of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to Uzbekistan on December 4-6. In particular, he stressed, Uzbekistan’s policy towards Afghanistan is always used to be built on the principles of mutual respect, equality and account of each other’s interests.
“The parties supported the initiative to create a new consultative Central Asia+Afghanistan (C5 + 1) format which is intended to be an effective platform for discussing the entire range of regional issues, as well as developing joint measures for peace and sustainable development with the support of the United Nations,” the report said.
