Central Bank of Uzbekistan has returned to policy of weakening the national currency versus dollar

Almaty. January 12. Silkroadnews - Central Bank of Uzbekistan has returned to the mild policy of weakening the national currency versus US dollar, if starting from January 5 exchange rate was decreased by 6.49 som, then starting from January 12 it will be decreased by 4.96 som only, the Uzbek news agency (UzTAG) informs.
Starting from January 12 the exchange rate was set at 2821.43 som per $1, which is 4.96 som higher than the week before (from January 5 - 2816.47 som).
Since the beginning of October the central bank gradually reduced the rate within range between 14 and 15 som: October 6 – by 14.08 som, October 13 by 14.14 som, October 20 by 14.23 som, October 27 by 14.3 som, November 3 by 14.38 som, November 10 by 14.46 som, November 17 by 14.53 som, November 24 by 14.62 som, December 1 by 14.69 som, December 10 by 14.77 som, December 15 by 14.85 som, December 22 by 14.93 som, December 29 by 15 som.
Within the last two weeks of 2016 the central bank significantly slowed the dynamics of depreciation.
As reported previously until September 29 the national currency became cheaper to the US dollar by about 5 som per week. Thus, the Central Bank has finally returned to the situation formed in Uzbekistan within the period from the beginning of 2015 and until the end of the first month of the last year’s autumn.
