Chicago signed a five-year plan to expand business ties with China
Beijing. Jul 13. Silkroadnews - The U.S. third largest, Chicago, signed a five-year plan with eight Chinese cities to develop cooperation in the field of advanced manufacturing and innovative technologies, China Plus reports.
“An open, confident, cooperative and competitive relationship is something we seek,” the agency quoted saying by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
According to him, trade between Chicago and China grew by 100% after signing a cooperation agreement five years ago between Chicago and major Chinese cities, including Beijing and Shanghai.
In turn, Li Chenggang, Assistant Commerce Minister of China, said that the parties demonstrated support for free trade and opposition to protectionism and added that “under the current situation, the visit showed U.S. local governments and industries are confident in the future of China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation.”
