China aimed at completing the global “Beidou-2” system by 2020

Almaty. April 22. Silkroadnews – China is aimed to complete the building of its global “Beidou-2” satellite navigation system by 2020, Xinhua news agency reports.

On the eve of the first in China Cosmonautics Day – April 24 – the official representative of the 5th Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation Wang Zhongyang said that another 4 satellites for “Beidou-2” regional network shall be launched during the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020).

Thus, the global “Beidou-2” system is expected to be completed by around 2020 to provide high quality services to users around the world.

“At present, China has successfully launched 22 satellites for “Beidou” navigation system. According to the plan, in 2018 the system shall provide basic services to the countries located along “one belt, one road” route,” said Wang Zhongyang.

Chinese “Beidou” satellite system is the third system of such type in the world after the American GPS and the Russian GLONASS. At the end of 2012 “Beidou” regional satellite navigation system was completed.
