Almaty. June 9. Silkroadnews – China has allowed frozen mutton import from Kazakhstan, the chairman of the Association of Exporters of Agricultural Products of Kazakhstan Bauyrzhan Bakshilov said, KazTAG reports.
“The Association took an active part in the audit conducted (in Kazakhstan – Silkroadnews) by two committees the Chinese side delegated on food safety and certification of Kazakhstani enterprises to enter the Chinese market for the export of frozen mutton. I would like to congratulate both states: a protocol on the export of frozen mutton from Kazakhstan to China has been signed today”, B. Bakshilov said during the fourth Kazakhstan-China business council on Thursday.
According to him, over the past two years Chinese imports of mutton amounted to around 220 thousand tonnes.
“Yet, we understand this number is much higher. Today Kazakhstan is quite competitive at this market with our current price of $4.15 per kilogram, we understand that now the price is high, as it is off-season now, in a month the price will drop by 80 cents, by $1, while in China the cost of a kilogram is about $5.6”, the head of the association pointed out.
