China and Georgia have started to work on the feasibility study for the creation of a free trade zone

Almaty. March 11. Silkroadnews - Ministry of Commerce of China and Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia signed a joint statement about the beginning of work on the feasibility study of a free trade zone, said the agency "Xinhua".
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili said that the start of work on the feasibility study for the creation of a free trade zone will mark a milestone in the development of trade and economic relations between Georgia and China.
In addition, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation in the joint construction of the economic zone of the Silk Road. According to the document, in the framework of the Sino-Georgian committee on trade and economic cooperation sides will make joint efforts to promote trade and economic cooperation in the construction of the economic zone of the Silk Road, comprehensively enhance bilateral trade, investment, infrastructure and technical cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Commerce of China, in 2014, the bilateral trade volume between China and Georgia amounted to $960 million. The amount of Chinese direct investments in non-financial sector of Georgia, reached $530 million. China has become the third trade partner of Georgia and the largest investor in the country in attracting direct investment .
