Almaty. April 24. Silkroadnews – China and Iran signed the first commercial contract to redesign the heavy water reactor in the city of Arak (the administrative center of the Central Ostan), the Chinese media reported.

The signing ceremony took place in Vienna. This document is expected to be an important step towards redesign of Iran’s nuclear power plants: Tehran agreed to redesign the reactor to minimize its plutonium production.

The contract was drawn up in accordance with the joint comprehensive plan of action – a political agreement between Iran and the P5+1 group (Russia, Great Britain, China, the US, France, and Germany) regarding the Iranian nuclear program signed in July 2015.
