China banned publication of unverified information from social networks
Almaty. July 4. Silkroadnews – China has banned the publication of unverified news from social networks, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) announced, KazTAG reports.
“To fight against dissemination of false information and prevent its further spread, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) issued a notice “on further strengthening of control to prevent the false news dissemination”, according to which all websites to ensure the truthfulness, comprehensiveness, objectivity, and fairness of news reports, banning the blind pursuit of speed and the direct publication of unverified content from social networks and other online platforms as news reports,” the statement said.
It is clarified that the requirement covers Internet resources, including news applications for mobile phones, microblogging, as well as accounts in social networks.
“Sites are strictly prohibited to use false news sources, based on hearsay, conjecture or falsified information to avoid distortion of the facts. Employees at all levels must conscientiously perform their duties on content management, strengthen supervision and severely deal with false, inaccurate and unverified information,” the statement emphasized.
As an example the report provides a number of published news based on unverified information, taken from unofficial sites, for which a number of media have been punished in accordance with the Chinese laws.
With this it is also noted that the Cyberspace Administration of China will not only monitor the accuracy of the information disseminated, but to develop regulations to suppress the publication of false information as well.
“The Cyberspace Administration of China will keep the situation under control and closely monitor the spread of false information to develop a working mechanism to fight against spread of information does not correspond to reality, as well as improve the relevant laws and regulations", - the report says.
