Beijing. January 15. Silkroadnews - China has demanded foreign airlines and hotel to check information on their websites, the People’s Daily Online reports.
China’s authorized agencies in civil aviation and tourism asked foreign airlines and hotels operating in the country to verify information published on their websites and mobile applications to ensure the territories belonging to China are not listed there as separate countries, the report says.
The move followed the publication of information for customers by the American companies Delta Airlines and Marriott Hotels International specifying the Chinese territories - Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Tibet - as separate countries.
Representatives from Delta Airlines have been called in for questioning by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). And the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration recently interviewed senior managers from Marriott Hotels International, the report reads.
Both companies have been asked to investigate into errors on their websites, publish the results of the investigation in a timely manner and apologize to the public.
Both Delta Airlines and Marriott Hotels International apologized and promised to take immediate steps to correct the mistakes.
It was reported that dozens of airlines belonging to the world’s three largest alliances have listed the territories of China as separate countries on their official websites.
Meanwhile, the China National Tourism Administration stressed, all the hotels in China must abide by China’s law and respect the feelings of the Chinese people.
