China develops blue economy cooperation with island states

Almaty. September 22. Silkroadnews – China is developing cooperation in the field of blue economy with island states, the Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.
“China and 12 island countries agreed on Thursday to strengthen cooperation in the blue economy and protect the environment of islands for sustainable development,” Wang Hong, the head of the State Oceanic Administration, said speaking at the China-Island Countries Ocean-related Ministerial Roundtable,” the report says.
It is noted that China hopes to boost practical cooperation with the island countries within the framework of One Belt, One Road initiative.
Reportedly, the declaration adopted at the meeting says about cooperation to develop the blue economy, protect the environment, prevent natural disasters and develop oceanic technologies.
The list of the participating countries includes China, Antigua and Barbuda, Samoa, Cape Verde, the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Sao Tome and Principe.
