China has allocated around $660 million for development in ethnic areas in 2016
Almaty. December 23. Silkroadnews – This year Chinese government has allocated 4.6 billion yuan (around $660 million) for development in ethnic areas, 15% increase compared to 2015, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission said on Thursday, “Xinhua” agency reports.
Chinese ethnic areas consist of eight provincial-level regions, including Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Tibet Autonomous Region.
In the first three quarters of this year the major economic indicators of these eight regions were higher compared to those ones of the country’s eastern provinces.
In terms of growth of gross regional product Tibet and Guizhou Province (Southwest China) entered the top three regions of the country.
Speaking at the meeting Vice-Premier of the State Council Liu Yandong called for better efforts to eradicate poverty in ethnic areas in order to ensure ethnic solidarity and social stability.
