Almaty. July 7. Silkroadnews –  China imported 17.7 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas from Russia via road border crossing checkpoint Erenhot in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (northern China), Xinhua news agency reports.

“This is the first case of import of the Russian liquefied petroleum gas to China through this major road checkpoint on the Chinese-Mongolian border,” the publication says.

According to the local administration representative, if Russian gas is imported to China on a regular basis, it can become an important part of the China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor.

In mid-June of this year representatives of the Russian petrochemical corporation “Sibur Holding” paid a visit to the Erenhot immigration and quarantine control department to hold consultations with the Chinese side on the control over the Russian liquefied petroleum gas import to China through Erenhot.

Head of the Erenhot immigration and quarantine control department Gao Minyan said since the third quarter of this year the gas imports by “Sibur Holding” to China will be carried out as follows: the gas will first be delivered to the Mongolian checkpoint Dzamyn-Uud by railway, and then transported to China by road via Erenhot checkpoint.
