China intends to raise the retirement age

Almaty. March 11. Silkroadnews - Project of raising the retirement age in China can be presented in 2017, said the agency "Xinhua".
"Acting now in China retirement age, which is 50 and 55 for women and 60 for men, was adopted in 1953. It is obvious that it no longer meets today's socio-economic development, so it is necessary to be changed",- said the Minister of Human Resources and Social Security Yin Weimin.
However, he noted that the development of the project will take into account the views of various public, and raising of the retirement age will be phased. In addition, he said, the beginning of the project is expected to come into force five years after its publication.
Gradual increase in the retirement age is a common practice around the world, especially in developed countries, the minister stressed. He also noted that now the average age of retirement of 80 million retired workers of Chinese enterprises is 54 years, while in some developed countries it is 65-67 years.
