China introduces millimeter wave technology in airport security checks systems
Beijing. Jul 4. Silkroadnews - China has officially introduced the millimeter-wave technology in the airport security checks systems, Sina reports.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has published its latest official technical standards and testing program for the millimeter wave imaging technology used for security checks at the airports.
After the United States and the European Union, China turns to be the first state in Asia to issue the relevant technical admission standards.
According to CAAC, the new technology will gradually replace existing metal detectors that have been used in Chinese airports for 26 years.
Millimeter wave imaging technology is the most advanced technology for global safety checks, which helps to improve the efficiency of airports.
The technology is harmless to the human body and has a high capacity for visualization. It can detect hidden objects found on a person regardless of their size or location, even including non-metallic objects.
New technology is used in airport security systems in several countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia and Japan.
China’s civil aviation authorities began testing this technology at four airports in August 2017.
