China is ready to help Bangladesh and Myanmar in solving Rohingya crisis
Almaty. November 20. Silkroadnews - China is ready to help Bangladesh and Myanmar in solving Rohingya crisis, South China Morning Post reported.
“China is willing to help Bangladesh and Myanmar solve the Rohingya crisis,” Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said after meeting with his counterpart in Dhaka.
“China supports resolving the crisis peacefully, bilaterally with mutual consultation between Bangladesh and Myanmar. It is a complex situation and needs a comprehensive solution. Economic development of Rakhine State is needed. China is ready to help,” Wang said at the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.
“The international community should not complicate the situation. Actions in the United Nations Security Council must help Bangladesh-Myanmar bilateral cooperation to resolve the problem peacefully,” the agency quoted him saying.
Wang Yi also met with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and assured her of China’s support in resolving the crisis.
“Myanmar will have to take back their nationals ensuring their safety, security and dignity for a durable solution to the crisis. We will not allow the land of Bangladesh to be used by any terrorist group to commit any act of insurgency in neighboring countries,” Hasina’s personal secretary Ihsanul Karim quoted the Prime Minister saying.
The Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali said that Bangladesh is trying to resolve this issue both on a bilateral and international basis, since it cannot afford to host such a large number of refugees.
In August, more than 600,000 Rohingya Muslims escaped to Bangladesh after Myanmar’s troops carried out a military clearance operation in the villages of Rohingya Muslims in the northwestern state of Rakhine that the United Nations called the ethnic cleansing.
