China joined top five countries importing Georgian wine

Almaty. May 11. Silkroadnews – China joined top five Georgian wine exporters, newspaper “Vedomosti” reports.
“For the first four months of 2016 Georgia has exported 11.581 million bottles (0.75l bottle) of natural grape wine, which is 45.1% higher compared to the same period last year,” the publication says.

It is also noted in January-April the proceeds from the export of wine carried out on the markets of 30 countries grew 15% to $26.9 million year-on-year. According to the National Wine Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, Russia accounts for the largest volume of wine export – 5.926 mln bottles (84% growth, 51.2% of total exports).

The top five major importers also include Ukraine (1.489 mln bottles), Kazakhstan (1.281 mln), China (779 400 bottles), Poland (682 500 bottles).

Along with wine and brandy Georgia also delivered to the foreign markets Chacha (the Georgian vodka), brandy spirit and wine materials. The total sales revenue for four months of this year amounted to $47.4 million versus $33.4 million for the same period in 2015.
