Beijing. Jul 4. Silkroadnews - Central China’s Hunan Province has launched a new freight train route to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, Xinhua reports.
The first train will deliver 41 containers of agricultural products, suitcases, clothes and auto parts from the city of Huaihua to Minsk.
The train will be the first one connecting the city of Huaihua to Europe, and the second route of freight trains between Hunan and Europe.
The 11,155-kilometer trip will take 15 days, which is 30 days shorter than by sea. The train will go every 10 days until September, and from September - every week.
Demand for rail transportation between China and Europe, as an alternative to slower and riskier sea transportation and more expensive air transportation, has been growing rapidly for the recent years.
