China launched the world’s first satellite for quantum experiments
Almaty. August 16. Silkroadnews – Last night China successfully launched the world’s first experimental satellite for quantum communications, TASS reports.
“The project is designed to prove the possibility of introduction of quantum communication on a global scale. This is an important step towards the quantum internet future development”, Austrian physicist Anton Zeilinger said giving comments on the satellite launch.
The launch of the Quantum Science Satellite – called Mozi – took place at 01:40 of Beijing time on Monday using a Chang Zheng-2D launch vehicle from the Jiuquan space center in the Gobi Desert (north-western Gansu Province).
One of the main objectives of the mission is to implement quantum information transfer and establish a “hacker-proof” communication channel between China (Beijing) and Europe (Vienna).
