China launches five major commercial space projects

Almaty. September 15. Silkroadnews –The agreement on the establishment of China's first commercial space industrial base of the state level was signed in Wuhan, the newspaper «People's Daily» reports.

As  the publication noted, Gao Hongwei, chairman of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp, said  the company plans to focus on the Wuhan National Space Industry Base and will continue to facilitate implementation of the five large commercial projects: engineering project of regional network of unmanned flying vehicle and its use; engineering project of local network of space-like airships; project of narrowband global mobile Internet and its application; project of return space aircraft. The development of these projects will be carried out for 10 years and involve thousands of sub-projects and sub-systems, the estimated amount of investments is expected to exceed 100 million yuan, the expected volume of production will make 100 million yuan.

This August the National Development and Reform Commission issued «A plan to construct a National Space Industry Base in Wuhan (Hubei)». Following Shanghai and Xian, Wuhan became the China's third space base of the national level with priorities to launch rockets, satellite platform and provide information services in the space, etc.
