China passed a law regulating foreign NGOs’ activities

Almaty. April 29. Silkroadnews – From now on prior to beginning of ones’ operation in the mainland China’s territory the foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) shall first get the Chinese authorities’ permission, the law adopted at the session of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress says, the newspaper “People’s Daily” reports.

The requirement of getting the permission is valid for all foreign NGOs, regardless of their intentions to operate on a continuous or temporary basis.

The NGOs’ activities registration and control shall be regulated by the Ministry of Public Security and the provincial police departments. Foreign NGOs operating in China without due permission shall be punished.

The law states China’s administrations of all levels shall provide the foreign NGOs with consultations and clarifications.

The law is aimed to regulate the activities of foreign NGOs in China, protect their legitimate rights and interests and contribute to the exchanges and cooperation boosting.
