Almaty. November 28. Silkroadnews - China plans a large-scale use of IPv6 network, Xinhua news agency reported.
“China plans to put the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6)-based network into large-scale use, to boost the development of the Internet industry,” the report said.
Reportedly, by the end of 2018 the country intends to have 200 million active users of IPv6 with further growth of their number to exceed 500 million by 2020 in accordance with the plan of action of China’s Central Committee of the Communist Party and the State Council.
As of the end of 2025, the network, applications and terminal devices will fully support IPv6 in China, and according to the plan, the country will have the largest number of IPv6 users in the world.
Computers, mobile phones, electronic devices and sensors connected to the Internet need a unique Internet Protocol (IP) address to identify themselves and communicate with each other.
The addresses used primarily on the Internet are based on a communication standard known as IPv4, whose number of addresses is ending.
The IPv6 network, first developed in the 1990s in China, can significantly increase the theoretical limit on the number of IP addresses than the current IPv4 system.
